Are you interested in joining a chorus that loves to sing and perform? We would be thrilled to meet you and help you discover if singing with the Choral-Aires Chorus is right for you. We invite women from all over the Chicago area and beyond to give us a try! From the novice singer to the classically trained, you'll find peers within all age groups. You will also find that we are a sisterhood passionate about music, learning, friendships, and giving back.
What to Expect
We're glad you're thinking of stopping by! On your first visit, you can always just listen. But if you're ready to give us a try, here's what you can expect at your first rehearsal:
- A big, warm welcome.
- You'll register with our Membership Chair, so we can properly introduce you to the group.
- Voice placement: We'll listen to you sing briefly (don't be nervous), in order to determine which vocal part best suits you. On the risers, you'll stand close to members who sing the same part, to make it easier to follow along.
- After you've been with us for a while and it's clear that Choral-Aires is the right fit for you, we'll start talking about the audition process.
- The audition process is tailored to fit each individual. We'll match you with a practice quartet and, when you and the quartet feel you're ready, you can audition.
Every member is expected to regularly attend and participate in rehearsals, events and competitions.
While it isn't required, we hope everyone will volunteer in some capacity, whether it's helping set up for events, sell tickets, recruit new members or any of the many ways we keep the Choral-Aires going strong.
More than anything else, however, we expect you to have fun and enjoy making fantastic music just as much as we do!
